Young Leaders Needed & Group Update

20 October 2013

Do any of you know a young person 14-18 years old who would like to become a Young Leader in theWednesday Beavers (5.45pm-6.45pm) or Wednesday Cubs (7pm-8.30pm)?  The experience can be used as the Service component of the Duke of Edinburgh or Welsh Baccalaureate.  A training course consisting of 11 modules is available.  It is great fun and looks good on uni and job applications.  Volunteering is good!  Get in touch for a chat about this.

Just to keep you up to date on the BeaversCubs and Scouts.  We have several new Beavers who all seem to be enjoying themselves at the Colony meetings.  We are in need of another Leader in Wednesday Beavers as Carys now has a job on Wednesday evenings.  Thanks to Carys, who has been a Young Leader and Leader for five years, for all her hard work.  If you are interested in helping us, get in touch.

The Cubs have now divided into two Packs. The Wednesday Pack has opened with eleven Cubs and new Leaders, Martin and Sue. So far it is all going well.  The smaller numbers in both Cub Packs allows us to have slightly quieter Cub meetings.

Scouts continue to be challenged in their Scouting journey by Neal and the team.  At the beginning of October, we hosted a presentation for Scouts and Explorer Scouts wishing to attend the World Scout Jamboree. Livsey Hall was packed with many Scouts and parents from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Two of our Scouts, one Explorer Scout and two Leaders expressed an interest in attending. Remember to get your application form in before Sunday 27th October.

I hope you will be with us at the Bonfire on Sunday 3rd November.  Come along and volunteer to help so the rest of us don’t have to work too hard.
