Testimonial
"Scouts for me is absolutely brilliant. We learn skills for life and have fun as well! My time in scouts has led me up to quarries, geo-caching in Cefn Onn, to even trying to cook an egg with candles! We do a lot of exciting things that helps us to survive in the harshest conditions, for example if we were stranded or if we were in an emergency situation. Quite recently the Duchess of Cambridge joined the scouts and for a royal to join this organisation truly makes me proud to be a scout.
Lord Robert Baden Powell founded the scouts in 1907; he was also known as B-P and was known as the Chief Scout of the world. He also received around 47 scout awards. The first international scout jamboree took place in 1920 in Olympia, London. Scouting was not B-P's only interest. He enjoyed acting, fishing, playing polo and big game hunting. He was a very good artist, working in pencil and water-colours. He also had an interest in sculpting and making home movies. In 1938, suffering from ill-health, B-P returned to Africa, which had meant so much in his life, to live in semi-retirement at Nyeri, Kenya, Even there he found it difficult to curb his energies, and he continued to produce books and sketches.
I myself am very proud to be a scout and I love it all so please join!"
